Juba, South Sudan – The Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) continues to play a pivotal role in fostering peace and reconciliation in South Sudan. Through its dedicated initiatives, CTSAMVM has been actively monitoring the implementation of the 2018 Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and promoting inclusive participation in the peace process.
Recently, CTSAMVM organized a workshop to empower women in peacebuilding and security. The event brought together 65 female representatives from civil society organizations, the Ministry of Gender, national NGOs, and the security sector. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about CTSAMVM’s role in peace implementation and to strengthen women’s participation in conflict resolution processes.
Maj. Gen. Yitayal Gelaw Bitew, Chairperson of CTSAMVM, emphasized the importance of women’s involvement in achieving sustainable peace: “Peace and security in South Sudan cannot be sustained unless women’s voices are heard, their rights protected, and their leadership recognized. We remain committed to promoting inclusive participation for all South Sudanese in implementing the peace agreement.”
CTSAMVM also reaffirmed its dedication to protecting civilians, particularly women, children, and vulnerable groups, as outlined in Chapter 2 of the R-ARCSS. The organization called on all stakeholders to collaborate with its Monitoring and Verification Teams across South Sudan to ensure the successful implementation of the peace agreement.
These efforts underscore CTSAMVM’s unwavering commitment to building a peaceful and inclusive future for South Sudan.
